The good news is... …protection and care for the vulnerable When Jesus welcomed children, it probably looked sweet—but in his time it was radical. Children had little status, and the disciples tried to send them away. Instead, Jesus welcomed them, once again turning social expectations upside down. Throughout scripture, God calls people to care for the vulnerable—the immigrant, the widow, and the orphan. By lifting up children, Jesus reminds us that we have all been vulnerable at some point in our lives. Living the good news means not only protecting the vulnerable, but helping them thrive.
